Ban Johnson All-Star Game
Thursday, July 17 6:30 p.m. Kauffman Stadium
|
Highlights
- The game was rescheduled from July 12 when it
was rained out. The All-Game was rained out for the
second time in league history.
- Despite allowing a first-inning walk, Anthony
Clark of the KC Blues struck out two batters.
- Clark's first inning was followed up by Steve
Bloss of the BJ Raiders. Bloss retired all three batters
he faced.
- Bloss was followed by Chris Matlock of the
Vipers, who retired all three he faced, including two
strikeouts.
- The first hit of the game finally came in
the bottom of the third from Ryan Weedin of UMB Bank,
a single to right field.
- After six innings, there was no score.
The B All-Stars had one hit and stranded five while
the J All-Stars had three hits and four runners left
on base.
- Eric Silkwood of the KC Blues came in to
pitch the top of the seventh and lasted only four batters.
He walked Billy Waldman of the BJ Raiders to start the
inning. That was followd by a single from fellow Raider
Taylor Sibala. Silkwood then hit pinch-hitter Eric
Menees of the Raiders before giving up a two-run single
to Jerry Mancuso of Building Champions to make the score
2-0 in favor of the B's.
- Despite Silkwood's removal from the game
after Mancuso's single, the B's were able to tack on
an additional two runs thanks to an RBI single from
Chris Benham of NKC Apartments and a sacrifice fly
from his teammate Bretton Ater.
- The J's made some noise in the bottom of
the seventh with a pair of two-out walks followed by
an RBI single from Tyler Rydell of the KC Blues
to score his Blues teammate Alex Thompson from second base.
- The J's got a runner on base in each of the
last two innings before B's pitcher Luke Kalb of the BJ Raiders
closed the door in the bottom of the ninth.
